Have you seen this video that went viral on YouTube a few days ago?! As a Georgia Tech grad, I have to say, I love this! I just had to share it with you all, because it’s hilarious and awesome. Perhaps my inner nerd (I was a computer science major after all, and did my graduate degree at Georgia Tech) finds this funny and normal people won’t. But the point is, after hearing it on the radio this morning while driving to the trail I planned to do my tempo run on, it also gave me some motivation for my run and for my upcoming marathon. But before I tell you why, watch the video – this is a Georgia Tech sophomore giving the welcome speech at the Freshman Convocation:
After listening to this on the radio and laughing my butt off, all I had running through my head during my tempo run this morning was (and i put this in all caps only because it really was shouting at me):
“I AM A GEORGIA TECH ALUMNI! I CAN RUN A 3:40 MARATHON! I’M FROM GEORGIA TECH – I CAN DO THAT! I AM DOING THAT!”
Thank god for this video because I honestly think that this is going to pop into my head at mile 22 of Chicago and give me a good laugh and reason to push on.
What’s the most motivational speech you’re heard lately?
